Sir Ewan Pearson se puede
enorgullecer de ser el hombre del toque
Midas. Prolífico orfebre de la electrónica, sus inconfundibles
creaciones pueden convertir en oro puro y extendido cualquier
pop song
que caiga entre sus dedos (Pet Shop Boys, Black Strobe, Depeche
Mode,
Playgroup, Goldfrapp, Erlend Øye, Ladytron, Slam, Franz
Ferdinand,
Aaron Carl, The Chemical Brothers o Freeform Five os lo dirán).
Instalado desde hace años en la siempre bulliciosa Berlín, este
poseedor de un máster en filosofía y autor de una tesis sobre la
música
popular, lleva varios proyectos simultáneamente -Partial Arts,
poppies a
partes iguales- que publicará también en Soma Recordings… algún
día.
EWAN PEARSON
// Biography
Sir Ewan Pearson can pride himself
on being the man with the Midas
touch. A prolific craftsman of electronica, his unmistakeable
creations
can convert any pop song that falls in his lap into solid gold
(Pet
Shop Boys, Black Strobe, Depeche Mode, Playgroup, Goldfrapp,
Erlend
Øye, Ladytron, Slam, Franz Ferdinand, Aaron Carl, The Chemical
Brothers
and Freeform Five can all vouch for that). Based, for years now,
in the
constant hubbub of Berlín, this man who holds a Master’s in
philosophy
and wrote a thesis on popular music, has several projects on the
go at
once -Partial Arts, which he shares with Al Usher, often flirts
with
the sublime – and he has produced the latest records by Gwen
Stefani,
The Rapture, Ladytron and Tracey Thorn, being so busy during the
past
two years that he still hasn’t managed to finish his new project,
like
Maas –eleven years after the wonderful “Latitudes” (1996)
featuring
Detroit flavours and poppies in equal measure- who will release
the
record on Soma Recordings... one of these days.
And its that very Ewan Pearson that
we write to you about today,
because he just released the definitive collection of his
legendary
remixes 'Piece Work'. A double CD collection of reworks of bands
such
as The Rapture, Chemical Brothers, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys,
Goldfrapp, Franz Ferdinand, Moby, Ladytron, Alter Ego, Royksopp...
you
get the idea: this man has the golden touch, he is considered
the
remixer's remixer and in the last 5 years he has produced some
of the
biggest remixes from some of the world's biggest bands. Not to
mention
his cult remix of Cortney Tidwell from earlier this year, which
is
available on 12" this week too.
